OE Edutech and Huawei Collaborate to Level-Up SME Digitalisation

Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OE Edutech Berhad (OE Edutech) in a virtual ceremony to jointly enable digital transformation among Malaysian aspiring entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Under the MoU, OE Edutech, an academy providing training for entrepreneurs, will collaborate with Huawei Malaysia through its Cloud business arm to develop and implement educational programmes such as seminars to drive digital adoption among SMEs.

More specifically, Huawei Cloud will provide OE Edutech with technical and business advisory support, the necessary digital tools and solutions, as well as share strategies and best practices for the planned educational programmes.

Present at the MoU signing ceremony were Dato' (Dr) Calvin Khiu, Founder and Chairman of OE Edutech and Mr Lim Chee Siong, Vice President of Cloud & AI Business Group, Huawei Malaysia.

“During these challenging times, it is crucial for all SMEs to quickly adapt and use challenges as solutions for leverage. Many SMEs want to digitalise but find no solution to take them from a single point business to a multipoint business that is able to operate in times where business complexity and uncertainties are increasing.

“Business success revolves around 3 major cores which are, the right mindset, strategy and skill” said Dato’ Khiu.

“There are many examples where SMEs’ vision and goals are not met due to technological skill barriers. As the leading SME platform in Malaysia, we are delighted to be partnering with Huawei. OE Edutech will assist more SMEs with their business models while Huawei will be able to assist in their digitalisation journeys,” added Dato’ Khiu.

Mr Lim echoed this sentiment, noting that in these unprecedented times, it is critical for SMEs across all sectors to change the way they conduct business and adjust to the disruptions caused by the ongoing pandemic by kickingstarting their digital transformation journeys and enhancing their capabilities.

“All businesses need new ways to rebuild themselves in the New Normal that is fuelled by technology, creativity and innovation. Digitalisation and technology adoption is the only way for SMEs to better prepare and future-proof themselves. By implementing and adopting new or emerging technologies, SMEs will be able to improve their operating efficiency and cost savings,” said Mr Lim.

“Technologies such as Cloud and Machine Intelligence are game changers for many enterprises, allowing them to advance their businesses in ways that were not possible years ago. To this end, this joining of forces between Huawei Malaysia and OE Edutech will pave the way for the development of SME tech talents by leveraging both parties’ resources and expertise, which in turn will lead to sustainable economic growth across all industries,” added Mr Lim.

Huawei Cloud and OE Edutech jointly emphasised the importance of building and strengthening the tech talent pipeline in realising the vision of a digitalised Malaysia and building a thriving innovation ecosystem, a vital step in cementing the nation as the ASEAN Digital Hub.
