Overland Storage expanded its tape offering with the new NEO XL-Series family of automated tape libraries provide up to 3.5PB of data storage capacity with up to 8.6TB per hour data transfer rate performance. Starting capacity is at 90TB and users can add additional modules to increase capacity.
Overland says the NEO XL feature six times better transfer rate performance and 64 percent more density per rack unit compared to the nearest competitors in its class. The 6u form-factor NEO XL-Series is available in two configurations, utilizing both LTO5 and LTO6 tape drive technologies, and scales up to 560 slots and 42 tape drives.
The NEOxl 60 supports up to three drives with capacity ranging from 90TB to 375TB, and data transfer rates from 504 GB/hour to 4.3TB/hour. The NEOxl 80 supports up to six drives with capacity ranging from 120TB to 500TB, and data transfer rates from 504 GB/hour to 8.6TB/hour.
The scalable design of the NEO XL-Series allows customization of backup and archive solutions by starting out as a 6u, 60-slot, single-drive library and scaling up to 560 slots and 42 tape drives. The seamless design of NEO XL libraries allows customers to add both data cartridges and tape drives as needs grow, instead of requiring a choice between capacity and performance.
