While Covid-19 dominated headlines in 2020, businesses still had to continue running. For most organisations, ensuring they were able to remain productive throughout this period was key. As such, they had to ensure they had sufficient technology to support them as well as be prepared to embrace the challenges the year brought.
For IBM, their partners were vital in ensuring they were able to connect with local customers and deliver solutions with minimal disruption. Miraculously, despite the challenges the year had brought, IBM’s partners achieved tremendous success throughout the year.
To honour this success, the IBM Malaysia Business Partner Awards was held to celebrate the achievements of IBM’s Malaysian partners in 2020. The virtual event, hosted by Asia Online Publishing Group and IBM, saw 12 local partners awarded for their success in 15 different categories.
In her address at the ceremony, Catherine Lian, Country General Manager and Technology Leader of IBM Malaysia, thanked the partners for their support throughout the year and highlighted IBM’s strategy to elevate the partner ecosystem in 2021.
“Our goal is to unite, unify and accelerate the ecosystem partners to deliver the IBM client experience to our customers. IBM is deepening investments and sharpening focus on partners by adapting our coverage model to a partner-centric focus to advance and change our sales culture, build a modern demand engine with seamless digital experiences and most importantly, be relevant to our clients,” said Catherine.
Jee Toon Tan, Director, Partner Ecosystem for IBM ASEAN, also thanked Malaysian partners for supporting them throughout the year. He explained that IBM is focused on delivering the best technologies and solutions, to scale to partners in order to create value for the customers. This includes helping partners capitalise on the hybrid cloud and unlock the power of AI. Jee Toon added that it was critical for partners to be able to support customers in achieving their cloud journey.
“The hybrid cloud approach is projected to be the preferred approach for most enterprises. IBM has worked with partners to build an economic model which has demonstrated that the differentiated value of an open hybrid cloud platform unlocks 2.5 times value versus a traditional cloud approach. And IBM’s cloud platform is uniquely positioned to support customers on their cloud journey,” explained Jee Toon.
Jee Toon also invited partners to the ASEAN IBM eOpenHouse on April 8th, which is a coming together of the strength of IBM’s Partner Ecosystem to showcase best practices and ‘How To’s’. The event will include the sharing of client stories of how companies are leveraging technology to drive growth, transformation and innovation, so that they will be ready to ride the economic upswing when it comes.
During the award ceremony, Sarene Lee, IBM Malaysia Cloud and Cognitive Sales Leader, and Eng Wei Chee, Server and Storage Leader at IBM Malaysia, also shared some of the new products and incentives IBM is offering to their partners in 2021 to achieve better success.
Among the big winners at the awards were Computer Business Solutions Sdn Bhd, who picked up three awards for ‘Top Server Partner’, ‘Top Storage Partner’ and ‘Top Marketing Excellence for System’.
