EMC enhances VMAX platform with cloud automation from iWave acquisition

iWave Software, maker of storage and cloud automation technology, has been acquired by its OEM partner, EMC. To be integrated into EMC’s Advanced Storage Division, the acquisition will used to further enhance the storage giant’s ambitions for the cloud.

iWave’s Storage Automator is used to provide highly specialized storage provisioning services matching application needs to a specific tier of storage or array. It is also used to provide private cloud administration, event response and fault remediation, configuration management database, change control process enforcement and resource allocation.

In November 2012, the Storage Automator was marketed as a virtual appliance supports EMC VMAX, VMAXe, VNX and Clariion. It also supports NetApp FAS, Dell Compellent arrays, Brocade and Cisco switches, MS Windows and Linux multipathing, EMC PowerPath, CIFS, NFS and iSCSi protocols.
