Dell Technologies introduced Dell Technologies On Demand, a set of consumption-based and as-a-service offerings on the industry’s broadest infrastructure portfolio that deliver IT with the agility of cloud and the control, performance and predictability of on-premises infrastructure.
The announcement was made at the Dell Technologies Summit in Austin, Texas. As part of this new offering, Dell is expanding its extensive flexible consumption portfolio to support Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and the new Dell EMC PowerOne autonomous infrastructure system, which you can read about here.
Michael Dell, CEO of Dell Technologies, said for now they are not sure of the full impact of On Demand but they do have some indicator as the demand for such service Is growing.
“We are going to let customers decide. Some customers prefer this model while some don’t want subscription services because their capital budget can’t interpret that kind of expense. We are building all services to be consumed on an on-demand model.”
According to Jeff Clarke, Vice Chairman, Dell Technologies, “The multi-cloud world is here and will only grow, which means customers need on-demand and consistent infrastructure that yield predictable outcomes across all their clouds, data centres and edge locations. Dell Technologies On Demand makes it possible for organisations to plan, deploy and manage their entire IT footprint. They can choose how they consume and pay for IT solutions that meet their needs with the freedom and flexibility to evolve as their needs change over time.”
Separately, Sam Grocott, Senior Vice President and leader of Product Marketing Organisation at Dell said speaking to customers around the world, as they evaluate infrastructure capabilities, businesses are looking for different ways to consume all the technology. They want flexible consumption solutions to plan for IT spending and pay only for the technology that is used.”
Which is why, Dell felt this model presents the best options across the Dell infrastructure stack, software-defined and hybrid cloud solutions, along with modern data protection, PC and digital workspaces
Dell Technologies On Demand will provide customers with flexible consumption for customers to only pay as they grow, flex on demand and data centre utility. It also provides best-in-class services via ProSupport, ProDeploy plus client and infrastructure managed services.
