The shift to cloud computing is well underway around the world. Over 95% of new digital workloads will be deployed on cloud-native platforms by 2025, according to Gartner, up from 30% in 2021. In Singapore, 86% of businesses rely on cloud-based IT services.

While the cloud has many advantages, discussions about its use have recently shifted to more advanced applications, such as containerisation and edge computing, rather than focusing on these advantages. When so many businesses are moving to the cloud, why do some choose to keep using antiquated systems?
