DSA had the opportunity to interview Singtel and IT Access during their participation at the ZertoCon Local held in Singapore last week. Over the next couple of months, Zerto plans to roll out ZertoCon Local events across another 20 cities throughout Asia. An extension of ZertCon 2017 held in Boston earlier this year, ZertoCon Local brings some of the buzz of the premier industry IT resilience event to people across the world.
David Tan, SingTel Director of project Management said they deliver cloud DR accessories as well as back up accessories in collaboration with Zerto. They also use Zerto tools to help migrate their workloads from their customer environment to their cloud.
David added that Singtel, who set up a booth at the event, chose Zerto as a collaborative partner for 2 reasons; Zerto is one of the strongest in product development at the moment and the 2nd reason is because Zerto is heavily invested in a joint success. They don’t want a partner who is just selling their product. Zerto and the team work very closely with the Singtel team to deliver the product and also go to market strategies.
Through this event, Singtel is able to reach out to new customer base and new markets. These events also gave good exposure to a bigger set of customers who get a chance to touch and feel. They felt it was also good to have brand association with a company like Zerto.
In choosing a technological partner such as Zerto, key components they felt were necessary in choosing a good partner included having a roadmap and the technical capabilities as well as the ability to understand Singtel as a service provider and not just an end customer supporter. Being able to develop joint go to market strategies also was a big plus point for Singtel.
With the software getting more agnostic as customers are looking at various virtualization technology, Zerto being a DRaaS provider, they are open to multiple virtualization technologies. They don’t stick to a single vendor, so be it hardware level or a hypervisor level, they are more optimised to run multivisor level technology adoption. That’s a big advantage over other vendors who offer the same technology.
IT Access Director, Dennis Kay uses Zerto’s solutions to give an in depth understanding of their customer through their hypervisor replication solutions. “Zerto is one of the pioneer in offering hypervisor replication. There aren’t many in this industry, especially in APJ and Singapore,” he added.
“When we first started with version 4.0, they fulfilled their promise on product development and looked beyond with on premise replication and even going to cloud, working with not only one cloud provider but with many. I think in this respect Zerto will suit many customers,” he shared.
He felt the ZertoCon Local event not only gave the resellers an opportunity to learn more about the technology, but also a good way for Zerto to share their road map and solutions as well as in growing their presence in Singapore and APJ, making the event a “confidence booster” for clients to trust the brand.
He shared why he felt he had a good partnership with Zerto. “From product roadmaps and solution development, to key individuals like Andrew Martin and Stanley Lee who started in this region and committed to building the trust with us, we believe the partnership will go far”.
