The race is on amongst the "Big Boys" to lead the race to be the leading Hybrid Cloud Service Provider. The race to dominate public cloud seems over with AWS, Azure and Ali Cloud leading the way. The likes of HPE and also IBM
have decided not to fight leading public cloud providers but rather embrace them into their hybrid offerings. IBM are making a big play and remain slightly different in that they still have "added value" public cloud in the form of Softlayer. We agree that this does set them apart as it adds another unique tier into the hybrid cloud solutions that IBM can offer.
