Hive-IO, a leading software-defined infrastructure solution, last week announced that TierPoint will host Hive-IO's cloud-compute platform to give Hive-IO customers easy access to increased scalability, disaster recovery capabilities and related services.

TierPoint is a US-based provider of cloud computing, colocation and managed services.

The Hive-IO Platform-as-a-Service enables organisations to run advanced Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and a variety of custom workloads without needing substantial capital hardware investments.   

In addition to VDI and virtual servers, Hive-IO makes it easy to deploy Hadoop for big data workloads and can operate many more applications.  

Hive-IO currently manages their platform on their own servers in a state-of-the-art TierPoint data centre.  As their customer base grows, plans are in place to utilise TierPoint's cloud infrastructure.
